Hansa Rostock striker Ryan Naderi has reportedly handed in a transfer request as he looks to complete a move to Rangers before the end of the winter window.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a priority target for Danny Rohl’s side in recent days and the Ibrox giants have lodged a €3 million bid for his services - which would be a record for a senior team in the third tier of German football.

Naderi has scored eight goals and provided five assists in 17 league matches so far this season and it’s understood that he is keen to join Rangers before Transfer Deadline Day on 2 February.

In fact, German publication TAG24 now claim that he has handed in a transfer request in a bid to force through a move.

Hansa Rostock are, however, currently unwilling to sanction a deal as they look to hold onto their star striker. They have reportedly blocked negotiations and no solution is in sight.

However, the club are searching the transfer market for a new centre forward and with Naderi still desperate to join Rangers, there is hope that a deal could be resurrected before the end of the January window.

Ryan Naderi transfer verdict

Although Naderi remains a fairly unknown quantity, Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has tipped the 22-year-old to be a success at Ibrox if his proposed move to the Scottish giants goes through.

“I’ve done my research and he’s highly regarded,” Ferguson told Hotline LIVE (via The Daily Record). “He’s German, and we all know where the manager is from.

“Rohl knows people in Germany, so if Rangers are willing to spend £2.6m, then I trust his judgement.

“It would be ideal for Rangers to get another forward in. They need to keep it fresh up top, and it would ease the workload off [Youssef] Chermiti and [Bojan] Miovski.”
