The 20-year-old joined Derby County on loan in August, however his temporary spell at Pride Park is expected to end in January in order to allow him to complete a permanent transfer to Celtic, according to The Times.

The former Liverpool midfielder is set to become Celtic’s first signing of the 2026 winter window as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his first-team squad amid an unexpected title challenge from Hearts.

Clark left Anfield to join RB Salzburg for €11.8m in 2024 and he made a total of 25 appearances across all competitions during his debut season in Austria, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

However, his game time diminished following the sacking of ex-Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders.

As a result, despite signing a five-contract upon his arrival at Salzburg, Clark sought a return to the UK this summer and he completed a loan move to Derby in early August.

He has featured on 10 occasions for Derby so far this campaign, however he is now reportedly set to move to Celtic in January.

Celtic’s January transfer plans

FootballTransfers understands that Rodgers is eager to explore the possibility of securing a reunion with former Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling in January.

The ex-England international is expected to leave Chelsea in 2026 after being cast aside by Enzo Maresca, although it remains to be seen if Celtic will be able to fund his lofty wages.

Meanwhile, the Scottish giants have also been tipped to rekindle their interest in Cluj striker Louis Munteanu after failing to secure his signature over the summer.

Reports suggest that Celtic saw an €8m offer rejected during the summer transfer window, but he could be available for around €5m in January.
