Trent Alexander-Arnold in danger as Real Madrid target €80m transfer
Real Madrid are reportedly interested in re-signing Achraf Hakimi this summer, despite the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold last year.
Hakimi spent 14 years at the Bernabeu, but he only made 17 first-team appearances for the club and after a two-season loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, he was sold to Inter Milan on a permanent deal for €43 million in 2020.
After a stellar debut season at San Siro, Hakimi joined Paris Saint-Germain for €68m and he has established himself as one of the best right-backs in world football during his time at the Parc des Princes.
The Morocco international has become an integral player under Luis Enrique and he was rewarded with a new contract last February. However, the 27-year-old has now been identified as a top target by the Real Madrid hierarchy, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
It’s reported that Hakimi is open to returning to the Bernabeu, and Los Blancos are keen to agree a deal as they look to bolster their right-back options to replace the ageing Daniel Carvajal.
The aforementioned Alexander-Arnold was acquired from Liverpool last summer to fulfil this role, but the England defender has struggled with form and fitness issues since his arrival at Real Madrid, and the club are keen to re-sign Hakimi as a result.
Achraf Hakimi to rejoin Real Madrid?
PSG have no intention of allowing Hakimi to depart and it’s claimed that a minimum bid of €80m will be required to finalise a deal for the Morocco superstar this summer - a fee that Real Madrid aren’t currently willing to pay.
Los Blancos are instead hoping that Hakimi will pressure PSG into lowering their asking price, according to Fichajes, while they are also expected to wait until their next permanent manager is confirmed.
Alvaro Arbeloa is currently in interim charge following the departure of Xabi Alonson earlier this year, although Jurgen Klopp and Julian Nagelsmann are among those to have been linked with a move to the Bernabeu ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
