Chelsea Transfer News Today: Record fee paid as shock Arsenal raid eyed
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Enzo Fernandez, Riccardo Calafiori and Mykhailo Mudryk.
Chelsea handed record fine
Chelsea have been handed a transfer ban and ordered to pay a record fine for breaching Premier League rules during the Roman Abramovich era.
The Blues were charged with incomplete financial reporting and missing payments. Their ban is suspended for two years, so they can continue to sign first-team players unless they commit further breaches.
They are, however, unable to sign academy players from other English clubs for the next nine months. They also have to pay a fine of €11.6 million. The punishment would have been much worse had the Todd Boehly regime not self-reported and cooperated with the Premier League.
Fernandez exit is possible
Enzo Fernandez could genuinely leave Chelsea this summer, according to journalist Gaston Edul.
The Argentina international has been repeatedly linked with a potential departure from Chelsea in recent months, and Edul states that there are "chances" that he moves on this summer.
Fernandez is said to be unhappy about the Blues' inconsistent form and failure to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League. Real Madrid and PSG are said to be interested in the midfielder.
Arsenal won't sell Calafiori
Arsenal will not listen to offers for Riccardo Calafiori this summer, according to TEAMtalk.
The Italian was recently linked with a surprise move to Chelsea, who were among the clubs looking to sign him before he made the move to North London in the summer of 2024.
Arsenal are expected to make Piero Hincapie's loan from Bayer Leverkusen permanent, but that does not mean that Calafiori will become surplus to requirements and available for transfer.
Mudryk to Strasbourg?
Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk could be loaned to sister club Strasbourg, according to L'Equipe.
The Ukraine international remains provisionally suspended after allegedly testing positive for a banned substance in 2024, and there is no clarity as to when a final verdict on his fate will arrive. The worst-case scenario is a ban of up to four years.
However, if cleared, Chelsea could opt to park Mudryk at Strasbourg in order to allow him to get back in the swing of things in a less pressurised environment.
Chelsea eye Messi
Chelsea are interested in signing Strasbourg wonderkid Rayane Messi, according to TEAMtalk.
The 18-year-old is currently on loan at Saudi Pro League side NEOM SC after spending the first half of the season with Ligue 2 outfit Pau FC. He joined BlueCo-owned Strasbourg in 2024.
Chelsea have earmarked the teenager as a future star for their team, and they will look to bring him to Stamford Bridge when they feel he is ready to play Premier League football.
