Transfer Rumours: Fresh Alex Scott move launched as Chelsea stunned by €50m decision
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 2 July, including the latest updates on Sandro Tonali, Alex Scott and Pep Chavarria.
Arsenal make fresh Scott enquiry
Arsenal have made a new enquiry for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, TEAMtalk claims.
The 22-year-old is a key target for Arsenal and Man Utd, especially now that Tottenham are signing Mateus Fernandes, who was also admired by both clubs. Arsenal again made contact with the Cherries to sound out a deal.
However, Bournemouth's stance on Scott remains unchanged. They do not want to sell him this summer, and only a fee well in excess of €80 million could test their resolve.
Huge Chavarria valuation
Rayo Vallecano have quoted Chelsea a whopping €50m price for Pep Chavarria, AS writes.
Xabi Alonso has requested that the Blues sign a specialist left-back to replace Marc Cucurella. Terms with Chavarria are already in place as the 28-year-old is keen to join.
Reports have claimed that Chelsea have proposed fees in the region of €9m and €15m, but Rayo have rebuffed both. They do not want to sell and are pointing to Chavarria's €50m release clause because he only signed a new contract until 2030 last month.
Tonali deal done
Tottenham have agreed a €117m package to sign Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali, The Athletic reports.
After having an opening bid rejected, Spurs improved their proposal and offered to pay more than €100m upfront for the Italy international. Newcastle caved despite previously insisting that they wanted to keep Tonali.
Personal terms have also been agreed. Tonali was a target for Arsenal, Man City and Man Utd as well, but similar to Mateus Fernandes, free-spending Spurs have won the race after putting the biggest fee on the table.
Rogers price
Aston Villa are demanding as much as €150 million (£130m) for Morgan Rogers this summer, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.
The England forward is Arsenal's top target and has also received interest from Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and PSG. However, Villa insist that he is not for sale this summer, and their price tag is informed by Elliot Anderson's €134m move to Man City.
"For Morgan Rogers, Aston Villa want to put a price around £130m to let him leave this summer," Romano said. "Villa are aware of Arsenal's interest and of interest from other clubs, including Chelsea... Arsenal hope to be creative in order to find a solution for Rogers."
Lacroix twist?
Crystal Palace sources are playing down reports that Chelsea are set to sign Maxence Lacroix, as per the Daily Mail.
French media have claimed that the centre-back will join the Blues in a €55m deal after the World Cup, but Palace insists that no talks have taken place with the West London club so far.
Moreover, using Jan Paul van Hecke's Tottenham move as a benchmark, the Eagles believe that they are in a strong position to demand more than €60m for Lacroix, given that he is under contract for three more years. The Dutchman cost €60m despite having just 12 months left.
