Arsenal prepare second Guimaraes proposal

Arsenal are set to make a second approach to sign Bruno Guimaraes despite being told by Newcastle that their captain is not for sale.

The Gunners have held talks with Guimaraes’ representatives and are understood to have made a verbal offer of around £55 million (€63.8m) to Newcastle, which was quickly rejected.

However, according to the Daily Mail, a new proposal is being readied by Arsenal to be submitted to Newcastle, although it is expected that the Magpies will reiterate their stance of not being open to a deal.

Guimaraes has two years remaining on his contract at St James’ Park and has not told Newcastle he wants to leave, although the 28-year-old’s name being circulated by intermediaries is said to have ‘raised alarm’ inside the club.

Tchouameni personal terms could be struck with Man Utd

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue if Manchester United pursue a deal for Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni, according to Ben Jacobs.

“Tchouameni’s wages are not an issue in my opinion,” Jacobs told The United Stand. “Manchester United would be prepared to make a player like that one of their top earners.

“They’re not in that territory of £300,000 [per week] Rashford, Sancho-type wages, but nor is Tchouameni by the way. So I’m not aware that personal terms with Tchouameni would be a problem.”

He added: “I doubt Man Utd would be walking away from a prospective Tchouameni deal [based] on wages. I think they would hold some optimism that if the player genuinely becomes available, it’s a viable move.”

Chelsea set to sign Lacroix

Chelsea are set to sign Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix for €55 million after his participation at the 2026 World Cup, according to reports in France.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a Stamford Bridge switch for several months, amid the Blues’ pursuit of a new centre-back, and a move is now beginning to take shape.

The Palace defender made his first appearance at the World Cup in France’s 4-1 win over Norway on Friday and he is set to join Chelsea for €55m after the tournament, as per a report from reputable French newspaper L’Equipe.

Personal terms aren’t expected to be an issue and Lacroix will likely become the second signing Chelsea have completed since the appointment of Alonso, following Marco Palestra, who will soon join from Atalanta.

Como set to permanently sign Paz from Real Madrid

Como have reached a full agreement to re-sign Nico Paz on a permanent deal from Real Madrid, according to football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Argentina international, who is yet to feature at the 2026 World Cup, has spent the past two seasons at Como, and after an impressive stint in Serie A, Real Madrid opted to trigger their €9 million buy-back clause this summer.

However, in an unprecedented move, Cesc Fabregas’ side have now finalised fresh permanent terms to re-purchase Paz from Real Madrid.

The deal is understood to be worth €60m, although this could be based on a heavy sell-on clause or other contingents as opposed to being a flat fee that Como will pay.
