Transfer Rumours: Liverpool deal takes step forward as Guehi bid prepared

Federico Chiesa takes steps to return to Juventus
Liverpool have taken a “significant” step forward to selling Federico Chiesa to Juventus, according to reports from Italy.
Chiesa is pushing for a move back to his homeland as he is unhappy at the lack of gametime he has received under Arne Slot since joining the Reds in 2024.
The Italy international attacker is prepared to take a significant cut to his €6 million annual salary to force a deal through.
Full details of the story, including who Liverpool are eyeing as a possible replacement for him, are available here.

Man City ready to launch Guehi bid
Manchester City are preparing to launch a January move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in order to beat a string of Premier League rivals to the England star, according to TalkSport.
Injuries to Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol have prompted City to step up their chase for the defender, and sporting director Hugo Viana is set to test the Eagles’ resolve by making a move for the defender.
Pep Guardiola’s side are not thought to be willing to match Palace’s £35 million (€40m) asking price.
Liverpool are not thought to be prepared to launch a bid for the 25-year-old at this stage, despite coming close to signing him in the summer. The Reds do not believe he would prove value for money.
Celtic enquire over two attackers
Celtic have expressed an interest in Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana and Basel winger Philip Otele, both of whom are being courted by various suitors across Europe.
Celtic were already interested in Fofana in the summer, but they were unable to strike a deal, and he ended up joining Karagumruk on loan. Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea now want to sell him permanently.
Otele, meanwhile, has impressed in Switzerland and is keen to take the next step in his career. Ben Jacobs claims that Basel have lowered their asking price for the Nigerian to €7m.
Atleti want Rashford
Atletico Madrid are interested in Man Utd outcast Marcus Rashford, who has been impressing on loan at Barcelona this season, CaughtOffside reports.
Barcelona have held talks with Man Utd to lower the cost of their €30m purchase option, while Atleti and PSG are keeping tabs on the situation. Rashford, for his part, wants to stay at Barca.
Atleti are keen to pair Rashford with striker Alexander Sorloth, which suggests that they have resigned themselves to losing Julian Alvarez, who is a target for Barcelona to replace Robert Lewandowski.
