Arsenal told shock summer sale has already been a 'great success' at new club
Arsenal have been told Gabriel Jesus has already become a “great success” at Barcelona following his move in the summer.
Jesus ended his four-year association with the Gunners by joining Spanish giants Barcelona for €10million (£8.4m) in September.
The move came as a major surprise given Barcelona spent the entire summer trying to make a marquee addition to the forward line.
After missing out on Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, the La Liga champions were linked with Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Sporting CP’s Luis Suarez.
And while Jesus was seen as a risk-free, low-cost alternative, expectations were low given he had lost his place in the Arsenal starting eleven.
However, the Brazil international has made a big impact at Camp Nou, scoring four goals in just seven appearances including three in La Liga.
Jesus is on track to outstrip his last three goal tallies for Arsenal, having netted six goals in 2025-26, seven in 2024-25 and eight in 2023-24.
Such has been the form of Jesus that Radio Marca journalist Fran Gonzalez believes the transfer has already paid off big time for Barcelona.
In quotes carried by SPORT, Gonzalez said: “I think Gabriel Jesus’s numbers are becoming quite serious - and I’m not joking.
“He has more league goals than Vinicius Junior (one). The only Real Madrid player who has scored more than him is (Kylian) Mbappe with seven.
“We’re talking about a great success and a very good signing.”
Barcelona and Arsenal have made strong starts to season
After learning Barcelona wanted to sign him, Jesus revealed he and his wife ran around their house “like children” - such was their joy.
Jesus will be hoping to continue his fine form in front of goal when Barcelona travel to Paris Saint-Germain in an exciting Champions League tie on Tuesday.
Hansi Flick’s side have made a magnificent start to the season, winning all 11 games across La Liga and the Champions League.
Arsenal meanwhile have won 10 of their 11 games this term including back-to-back Premier League victories over Leeds United and Nottingham Forest in their last two fixtures.
