Transfer Rumours: Palmer future as Man Utd make signing plus Liverpool January plan
The transfer window may be over, but teams are already planning for January and beyond. Here are some of today’s biggest rumours.
Palmer to make shock Chelsea exit?
Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer is ‘unsatisfied’ with the tactical role that he has been given under Enzo Maresca, who has been branded “arrogant” by some members of the playing staff.
There is an implication that the former Manchester City star could seek a transfer should the situation deteriorate further, yet it appears that he has not reached that point yet.
Palmer, meanwhile, has been ruled out for the next fortnight due to injury.
Maresca told the media: “We decided to protect a little bit, in terms of don't get worse. We decide to rest him for the next two or weeks until the international break, just to see if with that rest he can recover to 100% and be completely fit.”
Man Utd make 2026 signing
Manchester United continue to plan for the future, with Ruben Amorim’s side snapping up Colombia U17 international Cristian Orozco in a deal that will be completed next summer.
Ben Jacobs announced that the deal will be finalised when the player turns 18, which is not until next July.
Orozco has yet to make his professional debut but has caught the eye for Colombia’s youth sides.
Liverpool plan January replacement for injured star
Liverpool are ready to dive into the January transfer market to replace the injured Giovanni Leoni, who will miss around a year because of a serious knee problem.
Just who Liverpool will snap up to replace the Italian is less clear. Various sources are citing different players, with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Barcelona stopper Ronald Araujo and Dayot Upamecano of Bayern Munich all linked with a move to Anfield.
Saliba agrees new Arsenal deal
Arsenal are poised to complete an important piece of business by securing the future of centre-back William Saliba.
The Gunners are set to tie down the France international on a new long-term contract, fending off long-standing interest from Real Madrid in the process.
Mikel Arteta is also said to be interested in a move for two La Liga stars, with the North London side ready to invest €75 million in the duo.
Other transfer rumours
Barcelona have been left impressed with Marcus Rashford but will hold off making a decision over the Manchester United loan player’s future until next summer.
Man Utd star Kobbie Mainoo is ready to demand a January move in order to preserve his World Cup hopes after struggling to get starts.
Bayern Munich have not ruled out the possibility of Harry Kane returning to the Premier League next summer.
