Barcelona ‘delighted’ with Rashford as permanent transfer talks begin
Marcus Rashford has impressed Barcelona with his opening weeks at Camp Nou, with the Catalans already planning for next summer.
Rashford was dropped to the bench for Sunday’s 3-0 win over Getafe after turning up to a team meeting late. This punishment by head coach Hansi Flick has not clouded what has been a positive start for the Englishman since making a summer loan move from Manchester United.
Indeed, Barcelona are said to be “delighted” by the form of Rashford, according to Sky Sports, which adds that they are “very enthusiastic” about how the 27-year-old is adjusting to life in Spain.
He has two goals and two assists in his last three games for his new club, who are already considering their options in the long term.
Barcelona have an option to buy Rashford for €30 million. With the player boasting an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €55m, it appears they have themselves a fine deal.
The Catalans, though, are not forecast to discuss the long-term prospects of signing the Man Utd star until the end of the season.
One major consideration that Barca has is Rashford’s wage demands. Sky reports the Catalans are currently covering these in full, and with the Blaugrana still struggling financially, they may decide they cannot afford this next summer.
For his part, Rashford is eager to remain in Spain, having left Man Utd under a cloud.
Barcelona in double wonderkid move
If talks for Rashford are being delayed for months, Barcelona are already studying the possibility of 2026 transfers for a couple of Dinamo Zagreb wonderkids.
According to Sport, sporting director Deco travelled to Croatia with agent Andy Barra to hold talks with Belinho and Cardoso Varela over the possibility of transfers.
The two 16-year-olds both play for Dinamo’s U19 team but are being targeted by Barcelona for next season.
While FIFA regulations typically do not allow the transfer of players under the age of 18 between different nations, with Spain and Croatia both being EU countries, there is special dispensation to allow these deals to progress.
