Double Chelsea deal hits snag as transfer truth revealed
Chelsea are struggling to offload Raheem Sterling and Carney Chukwuemeka, despite fresh interest in the pair.
The Blues still have a full 'Bomb Squad' of players they are trying to get rid of before the 1 September deadline, but talks are slow to progress for these unwanted players as suitors seek to secure cut-price deals.
Among Chelsea's group of outcasts are Chukwuemeka and Sterling, the former a promising but injury-prone midfielder, the latter an experienced but inconsistent winger.
Dortmund have been in discussions to re-sign Chukwuemeka after he spent six months on loan with the Bundesliga side, but so far, the Black and Yellow have been unable to agree a deal. Chelsea rebuffed an 'insulting' loan offer last week, and Dortmund have yet to make an improved bid.
According to Ben Jacobs, Juventus are the latest club to express an interest in the 21-year-old, but talks with Chelsea have got off to a bad start. The Blues insist that they will only accept a permanent sale, while the Bianconeri have offered a loan deal.
Fulham unlikely to strike deal for Sterling
Meanwhile, Fulham have again started exploring a move for Sterling after their interest was initially revealed earlier in the window. The Cottagers are considering making an offer for the 30-year-old, but Sky Sports reports that a deal is looking unlikely at present.
There has been very little movement for Sterling so far this window. In addition to Fulham, Napoli have been credited with an interest, but they have so far refused to make a move for him.
Sterling spent the previous season on loan at Arsenal, and the Gunners are again in the market for an attacker after Kai Havertz's injury, but a return to the Emirates would come as a major shock.
Despite a deal with Fulham looking unlikely, it is stated that Sterling is still expected to leave Chelsea before the deadline. His destination remains unknown.
