Monday Rumour Mill: Maignan, Cherki, Rashford and more

Here at FootballTransfers we’ve collected all the latest rumours for you.
PREMIER LEAGUE
Jamie GITTENS (Dortmund to Chelsea, €60m) (ETV €68.3m)
Chelsea’s spending continues without interruption; after dodging PSR thanks to loopholes, they are back in the Champions League and on the offensive, and seem to be collecting attacking players - Gittens is the latest linked with a move.
Mike MAIGNAN (Milan to Chelsea, €15m) (ETV €19.1m)
Chelsea’s goalkeeper issues have been well documented, and Maignan is out of contract next summer meaning a weakened Milan - with no European football - are looking to cash in. But Milan want €30m and Chelsea seem to be some way from that valuation at the current moment.
Tino LIVRAMENTO (Newcastle to Man City, €60m) (ETV €50.5m)
Like Chelsea, City seem keen to spend, spend, spend, though this bold move for Livramento does seem unlikely given Newcastle’s return to the Champions League. They will be looking to add, not sell, so there might not be too much in this one.
KEPA (Chelsea to Arsenal, €5m) (ETV €12.1m)
This one, however, looks like it may well happen. Mikel Arteta absolutely LOVES buying goalkeepers, it’s his favourite thing. In fact this will be the seventh GK he’s bought in his tenure at Arsenal - though the markdown fee means it won’t eat into his summer budget for more left-backs all that much.
Rayan CHERKI (Lyon to Man City, €40m) (ETV €39.5m)
And Pep Guardiola also seems keen to find one of the few talented, mercurial playmakers in European football at the minute and get that dribbling nonsense out of his head, sharpish. Will Pep do to Cherki what he’s done to Jack Grealish? We may find out soon, as this one looks likely to happen.
LA LIGA

Martin ZUBIMENDI (Real Sociedad to Real Madrid, €60m) (ETV €59m)
No sooner had Zubimendi put the ball in the net against Portugal in the Nations League final than Marca had him linked with moving to Real Madrid - as is the way in the Spanish capital press. He still seems closer to Arsenal but this window has proven as much as any other - never rule out Los Blancos, particularly at the end of a season without a Champions League or La Liga.
Franco MASTANTUONO (River Plate to Real Madrid, €40m) (ETV €20m)
…such as Real appearing out of the blue for one of the brightest young talents in Argentina. Quite where or how he would fit into this team is anyone’s guess, but their scorched Earth approach to transfers at the minute means anyone and everyone is on the table, and Xabi Alonso will need to worry about it later.
Marcus RASHFORD (Man Utd to Barcelona, LOAN)
This one isn’t going away but the only way Barca could conceivably get this deal done is with a season-long loan. United need funds to strengthen so allowing one of their few assets that they could cash in on to leave on loan would seem particularly stupid - but it’s Man Utd, so we can’t rule anything out at this point.
BUNDESLIGA
Christopher NKUNKU (Chelsea to Bayern Munich, €60m) (ETV €51.7m)
This one could run for most of the summer; Chelsea would like to offload a player who has been, in every way, a disaster at Stamford Bridge, while Bayern are not the type of club to be bullied over a fee they just don’t want to pay. It might happen eventually, but expect a lot of negotiating to happen first.
Rafael LEAO (Milan to Bayern Munich, €70m) (ETV €74.7m)
But Bayern would likely to pay a little more for a player who has shown some kind of form in the past two years, unlike Nkunku. Leao committed to Milan last summer but the trajectory of the Rossoneri is not an upward one. If Bayern come with a measured and alluring bid, he could well end up in Germany.
SERIE A
Dusan VLAHOVIC (Juventus to Milan, €30m) (ETV €40.6m)
It’s fair to say that Vlahovic’s Juventus career hasn’t worked out, but a centre-forward moving to Milan these days is like signing a death warrant for your career (see Alvaro Morata, Luka Jovic, Tammy Abraham and more).
Has he fallen that far? Milan will likely at least have the money to do a deal with the proposed sales they are making.
LIGUE 1
Gianluigi DONNARUMMA to leave PSG (Multiple clubs interested)
Milan have also been linked with attempting to persuade Italy’s No. 1 to return to Serie A, but when was the last time a Champions League winner signed for a team not even in Europe the following season?
Both Manchester clubs have also been linked with a move and of all of those City seem the most likely, unless United offer some silly money - again, not beyond possibility.
SAUDI ARABIA

Heung Min-Son, Jadon Sancho, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez
Saudi want to spend big but so far have been frustrated in their efforts to do so; Bruno Fernandes and now Victor Osimhen are the latest to reject giant offers to go have a kickabout over there.
But not everyone will say no. If Liverpool received a huge offer for either Diaz or Nunez they would definitely entertain it, as they chase down Florian Wirtz. Son, meanwhile, is in the final year of his Spurs contract, and Jadon Sancho is friendless in the market after being roundly rejected by Chelsea.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see one, or more, of these players playing somewhere in the PIF’s portfolio come later in the summer.
