Man Utd Transfer News: Cunha signing close amid Delap worry

All the latest Manchester United transfer news on August 3, including updates on Matheus Cunha, Viktor Gyokeres and Liam Delap.
Romano provides reassuring Cunha update

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has announced that Man Utd are still the clear favourites to sign Matheus Cunha despite the lack of obvious recent progress regarding a summer deal.
"Relax a bit on this one in the sense that, yes, probably there was a feeling two, three weeks ago that this deal could happen in a few days, but it always takes time to prepare a contract, to agree on the salary, to speak with the agent, then to agree with Wolves on the payment terms for the £62.5m release clause," Romano said.
"They need to find an agreement on the payment terms. Man Utd are working on it. Man Utd have very good connection with Cunha, with his agents. It's a very positive conversation. Ruben Amorim appreciates Cunha, and Cunha knows that very well.
"Man Utd remain very confident. Despite the rumours about other clubs - there's always been a lot of interest in Cunha - Man Utd are the clear favourites. We expect Man Utd to advance on this one in the next days.
"From what I always heard, it's not about the Champions League football or not, winning the Europa League or not. It's not about that. Cunha is keen on the move to United. It's just about completing the contract agreement."
Delap warned off Man Utd

Former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has advised top Man Utd target Liam Delap against biting off more than he can chew by signing for one of the world's biggest clubs after just one top-flight season.
“I wouldn’t stay at Ipswich, I’d go to a West Ham, go and prove yourself at a West Ham [as the] next step," the former Aston Villa star said. “They need a striker. [Evan] Ferguson will go back to Brighton, he’s only on loan, [it] hasn’t worked out. They’re desperate for a striker.”
Man Utd are understood to be prioritising a move for Delap over other striker targets.
Exclusive: Arsenal ramp up Gyokeres interest

One such striker target is Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP. Transfer expert David Ornstein recently insisted that Man Utd are firmly in the race for the Swede.
Be that as it may, FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal are now really ramping up their pursuit of the 26-year-old after making him their top target.
Gunners officials will be in attendance at the Portuguese cup final between Sporting and Benfica on May 25, although striking a deal may not be as straightforward as initially thought.
Man Utd to miss out on Greenwood windfall

Marseille striker Mason Greenwood has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in recent weeks. This was good news for Man Utd as they would be owed 50 per cent of the profits generated by the Ligue 1 side.
However, it seems that the Red Devils will miss out on this much-needed windfall as Greenwood has now announced his clear intention to remain at Marseille beyond this season.
“I hope to be here next year for the Champions League,” Greenwood said. “All the other players tell me that the stadium is something special. I think it’s been a very positive season, we’ve reached our objective. I feel at home here.
"I recently had a baby here with my girlfriend. Not a lot of people get to experience that kind of thing here and with all my teammates and coaches. I would like to thank them all."
