EXCLUSIVE: Sporting CP set new Viktor Gyokeres condition as Arsenal ramp up pursuit

Arsenal remain determined to finalise a deal for Viktor Gyokeres and they have received a major update regarding their pursuit of the Sporting CP striker, FootballTransfers has been informed.
The Sweden international has emerged as Arsenal’s priority centre forward target since the appointment of Andrea Berta as their new sporting director, and we understand that fresh talks will take place with Sporting after the Portuguese cup final against Benfica on 25 May.
FootballTransfers has now been told that Arsenal representatives will be in attendance to watch Gyokeres in action during the final as they ramp up their pursuit of his signature.
However, Sporting have stipulated that the vast majority of Gyokeres’ potential transfer fee must be paid within two years - a condition that could pose a possible stumbling block.
Furthermore, FootballTransfers understands that Gyokeres will not engage in any disputes over the payment structure due to his relationship with Sporting and his appreciation of the club.
Arsenal will therefore be required to agree to Sporting’s terms or they risk someone else finalising a deal for Gyokeres from under their nose.
The 26-year-old has scored 52 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions for Sporting so far this campaign and he currently boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €75 million.

Viktor Gyokeres to join Arsenal?
Gyokeres is one of several targets that Arsenal are hoping to sign this summer as they prepare for a mega transfer window ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
As exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers, Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is set to become the Gunners’ first signing of the summer, while they are also pushing to finalise a deal to bring Athletic Club’s Nico Williams to north London.
In addition to Arsenal, Gyokeres has also been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, although a move to Old Trafford appears unlikely as things stand.
