Manchester City spent a whopping €218 million during the January transfer window, but Pep Guardiola’s side have dipped into the market yet again this summer.

Their ageing squad needed a major revamp and Man City got their business done early in time for the Club World Cup, bringing in Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli to the tune of €130.7m.

Below, FootballTransfers runs through five more players who could join Man City this summer.

Andrea Cambiaso (Juventus)

Man City were eager to sign Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso in January, but they were unable to finalise an agreement for the Italy international and he remained in Turin as a result.

However, the eight-time Premier League champions are expected to rekindle their interest in Cambiaso this summer as Guardiola looks to add the versatile Italian to his first-team squad.

Cambiaso is able to play on either flank and he is one of Man City’s priority transfer targets, despite the fact that his price tag is in excess of €60m.

Sverre Nypan (Rosenborg)

Man City have come out of nowhere to swoop for Rosenborg wonderkid Sverre Nypan, who was previously close to joining Aston Villa. However, the Birmingham club's failure to qualify for the Champions League doomed his transfer.

This presents Man City with a chance to make a move for the teenager, and they are on the verge of wrapping up his arrival, although Nypan is not expected to stay with Guardiola's squad.

Instead, he will be sent out on loan, likely to City Football Group sister club Girona, who were interested in signing him in January.

Rodrygo (Real Madrid)

Rodrygo saw his importance to Real Madrid wane in the dying embers of Carlo Ancelotti's stint at the club, and this has prompted him to seek assurances of game time from new boss Xabi Alonso.

Should the Spaniard be unable to guarantee the Brazilian regular starts, Rodrygo will look for a move away, despite generally being happy at Real Madrid.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with Rodrygo, but Man City will also surely be keenly watching the situation after enquiring about his availability in summer 2024.

Diogo Costa (Porto)

Ederson has been touted to leave Man City this summer, following rumours of an exit in 2024, and the Etihad Stadium outfit are now searching for a possible replacement.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed that Porto’s Diogo Costa is being scouted by Guardiola’s side, and we understand that he is the club’s top goalkeeper target for the summer window.

The Portugal international has enjoyed a fruitful spell at Porto, following his promotion into the senior team in 2021, but a move to Man City could take place this summer.

Anatoliy Trubin (Benfica)

In addition to Ederson, Man City's other goalkeeper Stefan Ortega could also look to leave the club after failing to consistently establish himself as Guardiola's No.1.

We understand that Benfica shot-stopper Anatoliy Trubin is another name on the radar of Man City, with the Premier League giants potentially changing their entire goalkeeper department this summer.

Third-choice Scott Carson will leave the club when his contract expires and has already been replaced by Chelsea's Marcus Bettinelli.
