Players of the Serie A side had the weekend off after beating Arezzo 1-0 in the Coppa Italia on Friday, in which Trepy played 54 minutes before being substituted in the second half.

A statement from Cagliari on Monday stated:
"Cagliari Calcio confirms that player Yael Trepy is currently receiving treatment at the “Santissima Annunziata” Civil Hospital in Sassari, where he is in intensive care.
"The Club remains in constant contact with the medical staff and with the player’s family, and is closely monitoring the development of his condition.
"At this time, everyone at Cagliari Calcio is thinking of Yael and his family. The Club also asks that their privacy be fully respected and will provide further updates when available."
Born in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges 15km from the centre of Paris, Trepy began playing in his hometown before joining US Creteil-Lusitanos. Cagliari brought him to Sardinia in 2022, where he progressed through the club’s Under-18 and Primavera sides before making his Serie A debut against Cremonese on 8 January 2026.
In his breakthrough campaign, he made eight appearances and scored his first senior goal in that aforementioned debut, coming off the bench to score a vital equaliser in a 2-2 draw.
