About Martin Macdonald

Martin has been a passionate football fan since a young age. Initially interested in Scottish and English football, he eventually became a Spanish football expert while compiling match reports and doing live text commentaries on La Liga fixtures, particularly in the era of dominance from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Like every football fan of a certain vintage, he has a soft spot for the glory days of Serie A, too.

In addition to his duties with FootballTransfers, Martin continues to write content for MovieMeter and has conducted cast interviews and attended press screenings of new releases, alongside his writing.

He also works in operations with RealTimes Network so contributes to the business across numerous platforms.

Area of Expertise

Over the course of his 15-year career, Martin developed an expansive skillset and has written thousands upon thousands of articles for a variety of media publishers. These range from interviews, to straight news stories, to features, to lists, to live text commentaries.

Experience in the field

Starting at GOAL and Perform Media before moving to RealTimes, Martin was formerly the Chief Editor of MovieMeter.com and has also written for FightFans, GPFans and MSN, in addition to FootballTransfers.

Editorial approach

While it may have been in the case historically that getting something out before anyone is the most important aspect of journalism, Martin believes in getting the facts right and researching to provide in-depth content to our readers.
