What is Argentina's World Cup squad?

Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni has named his 26-man squad for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, with AS Roma's Paulo Dybala making the cut despite fears he would miss out.

The former Juventus star hasn't featured since the start of October due to a hamstring injury, but he has been included in Argentina's squad.

Despite rumours of him being selected, Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho misses out on the squad due to Dybala's inclusion.

Argentina go into the tournament as one of the favourites to lift the trophy following their recent Copa America triumph. Along with Brazil, they are expected to go deep into the tournament, something that isn't a surprise given the talent in their 26-man squad.

Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi will spearhead their charge, with the Barcelona legend attempting to finally win the World Cup in what will likely be his last tournament.

He is joined in the squad by a plethora of attacking talent, including Manchester City's Julian Alvarez, Juventus' Angel Di Maria and Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez.

Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister has made the cut, along with Benfica wonderkid Enzo Fernandez. However, Giovanni Lo Celso, who is a key player for Scaloni, hasn't made the squad due to injury.

His usual central midfield partner Rodrigo De Paul is in the squad, next to Leandro Paredes and Guido Rodriguez.

At the back, Premier League duo Lisandro Martinez and Christian Romero will be hoping to be first choice, although former Man City star Nicolas Otamendi is still a regular in the backline.

Juan Foyth, Nicolas Taglificao, Marcos Acuna and Nahuel Molina are among the other defenders to make the cut.

The three goalkeepers selected are Emiliano Martinez, Geronimo Rulli and Franco Armani.
