Man Utd receive big Hojlund-Vlahovic BLOW
Manchester United's hopes of selling Rasmus Hojlund have taken a hit as Milan manager Max Allegri prefers to sign Dusan Vlahovic.
Man Utd are desperate to sell Hojlund this summer and AC Milan have emerged as the most likely suitors for the Denmark striker.
Milan and Man Utd have been in talks over Hojlund for a while now, with a €6 million loan with a €45m buy option discussed.
Hojlund also is understood to have opened up to a move to Milan, having initially been against it.
Allegri prefers Vlahovic
Milan will sign a striker before the end of the window but Alfredo Pedulla has revealed that manager Max Allegri would rather sign Dusan Vlahovic, who has been transfer listed by Juventus.
“Milan are tracking two or three strikers. If it were up to Allegri, they would sign Vlahovic and not Höjlund," Pedulla told The Italian Football Podcast.
"Then, maybe Hojlund will still arrive, but for them Vlahovic is more of a priority in terms of importance.
"Because Vlahovic is a better player than Höjlund. Vlahovic can guarantee you 15-18 goals. Höjlund is a question mark.
"Höjlund when he was in Italy, when he left Atalanta to go to Manchester United, had scored seven to eight goals. He hasn't scored a lot of goals at Manchester United.
"I think that we have to pay attention to Vlahovic until the end of the window,
“Juventus don’t want to be taken to the cleaners, and Vlahovic, who earns a lot, thinks about the fact that being the third striker at Juventus, where he wouldn’t play a lot during a World Cup year, won't be a very nice thing.
“It also depends a lot on what Juventus wants, which I think can’t be even €25 million. They can ask €16 million + add-ons. And if Milan are ok with this sum, then I think it’s all to play for, without forgetting Hojlund. Because Hojlund is also on Milan’s list.”
Hojlund is no longer in manager Ruben Amorim's plans for the coming season.
Man Utd signed Hojlund in the summer of 2023 from Atalanta for €75 million plus €10m in add-ons.
The 22-year-old has struggled badly, failing to score a single Premier League goal before Christmas in his first season.
Despite picking up in the second half of the campaign, he was a disaster in his second season.
Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals all season and United have now given up on the striker and he was not involved in the opening game of the season on Sunday against Arsenal.
Hojlund exploded in the first half of 2023 at Atalanta as one of the most exciting young talents in European football.
He scored 15 goals in the calendar year for club and country prior to his move to Man Utd.
However, he has failed badly to fulfil his potential at United.
