Fabrizio Romano transfer news: Isak BOMBSHELL, Garnacho to Chelsea TRUTH, Man Utd PRIORITY
Football transfer news reporter Fabrizio Romano has delivered the latest news from the 2025 summer window, with updates on Alexander Isak, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho.
Man Utd desperate to sell Jadon Sancho
Fabrizio Romano started his latest YouTube video by providing an update on Jadon Sancho’s future at Manchester United after he rejected the chance to join AS Roma.
“Man Utd are pushing Jadon Sancho to find the solution as soon as possible,” Romano revealed. “Sancho and Roma deal was on for £20 million. On Monday, Sancho said ‘no’ to that possibility.
“For Man Utd there are some players who are completely out of the squad. Internally they describe that as a bomb squad - those who are completely out of the project: Sancho, Antony, Real Betis are still interested but there could be other clubs, and Alejandro Garnacho, who is expected to join Chelsea.
“Tyrell Malacia is also not part of the project, and Roma and Besikas are the two clubs interested.
“At Man Utd there is movement for these players because it's going to be important to find new solutions on the market. For Sancho, Man Utd have been clear with the player. They want a solution as soon as possible because his salary is a big part of the Financial Fair Play position for Man Utd.
“So it's going to be important to see what's going to happen there for sure as Man Utd were really ready and prepared to welcome a £20m loan with an obligation to buy almost guaranteed from Roma.”
Man City want Gianluigi Donnarumma
Man Utd have also been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, however Romano has confirmed that Man City are currently leading the race for his signature.
“Man City are still optimistic to get a deal done for Donnarumma. Let me clarify one thing, as of today, Man Utd have not moved for Donnarumma,” Romano said.
“Man Utd are aware of the situation, they noted down information on what happened between PSG and the player, and they found out his salary - more than €10m net per season.
“But it’s important to say that Man United didn't call to start a negotiation and they haven't moved for Donnarumma.
“[However] Man City remain in talks with PSG and with the agents of Donnarumma. He is very keen on a move to Man City and personal terms are not a problem, but this story still depends on Ederson.
“Conversations are ongoing with Galatasaray and Man City are patiently waiting.”
Savinho update
Meanwhile, Man City are yet to sanction the proposed sale of Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur, with a deal currently at a standstill.
“Man City are still not accepting Tottenham proposals for Savinho,” Romano admitted. “There is someone specific, someone very important at Man City, blocking the deal for Savinho to Tottenham.
“The player is clear on a move to Tottenham, but the player is not breaking his relationship with Man City.
“Savinho is currently thinking ‘if I can go to Tottenham, I'm happy because Thomas Frank wants to make me one of the faces of the project and I could play on a regular basis.’
“So, Savinho would like to go to Tottenham, but he is not like ‘Tottenham or nothing’. It's not that sort of situation. Savinho still respects City and there is someone on the board of Man City with a strong desire to keep the player, probably because we all saw what happened with Cole Palmer. There is someone at Man City believing there could be the same with Savinho.
“Tottenham don't want to give up, they still want to try, but there is still no green light from Man City.”
Rodrygo to Man City?
With Savinho set to remain at the Etihad Stadium unless something changes, Romano has revealed that Rodrygo is unlikely to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
“If Savinho doesn’t go to Tottenham, Man City will not go for Rodrygo,” the football transfer news expert said. “If Savinho goes to Tottenham, Rodrygo is the top target for Man City.
“Links with Maghnes Akliouche and Xavi Simons are not true and the only thing is Rodrygo.
“It's easy to come here and talk about Rodrygo to Man City, but they have to approach Real Madrid, make a bid of at least €100m, reach an agreement and convince the player, who is very happy at Real Madrid. Rodrygo is not desperate to leave Real Madrid and he is not asking to leave.”
Eberechi Eze to join Tottenham?
Although Tottenham have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Savinho, they are close to finalising a deal for Crystal Palace superstar Eberechi Eze after hijacking Arsenal’s deal for the England international.
Romano revealed: “Tottenham keep working on Eberechi Eze. A direct meeting took place on Monday between Daniel Levy and Steve Parish. An offer of £55m, plus £5m in add-ons is on the table and Tottenham are trying to reach an agreement after Eze informed Crystal Palace last week of his desire to go to Tottenham.
He really wants to go after winning two titles, the first two in the history of Crystal Palace, as he believes this can be the moment to go and play in the Champions League.
Porto want Jakub Kiwior
Arsenal are expected to sanction several departures before Transfer Deadline Day and Jakub Kiwior is one player who could be offloaded after the signing of Cristhian Mosquera.
“There are still some efforts from Porto for Jakub Kiwior. They wanted the player in July and they want to try again,” Romano confirmed.
“Arsenal have already rejected the bid as he remains an important player, so Porto must submit an important proposal or nothing. In that case, they would maybe be required to sign a replacement if Kiwior or Oleksandr Zinchenko leaves.”
Alexander Isak latest
Finally, Romano provided the latest state of play regarding Alexander Isak’s dream move to Liverpool.
“Onto the big case of Alexander Isak. What I can tell you is that Newcastle have received another strong message from the player,” he said.
“Over the past few weeks, Newcastle have always tried to approach Isak to say ‘are you sure there is not even one single way to continue together?’ They even offered him a new contract with a record salary for the club that includes an exit clause to let the player go in 2026.
“Isak again is saying ‘no chance’. Isak has no intention to change his mind and those close to Isak maintain the same position - only Liverpool.
“Obviously, Newcastle need a replacement, maybe two strikers. At the moment Brentford are still blocking Yoane Wissa - but Newcastle remain confident on receiving the green light.
“Then to find the new striker because they would need a proper number nine in order to give the green light for Isak.
“What’s Liverpool's position? Very silent, very quiet, but not sleeping on this one. Liverpool are ready to bid again for Isak. Liverpool will be very ready with a new proposal if Newcastle open the doors.
“Forget about Liverpool not bidding. They are very ready and this story is entering its really hot stages. Liverpool never approached any other striker and the focus is very clear: they are waiting to see what's going to happen with Newcastle.
“The player is very clear, the club is very clear and they are just waiting to be together as soon as possible.”
