Palmer domino?

Chelsea's strong interest in Aston Villa attack Morgan Rogers could start a Cole Palmer domino, TEAMtalk claims.

Man Utd and Chelsea are both pushing to sign Rogers, who will likely command a fee north of €100 million this summer. Aston Villa don't want to sell but could be compelled to do so due to UEFA's financial regulations.

In the event of a sale, Villa want to Rogers to fetch more than the €117.5m Man City paid for Jack Grealish. Should Chelsea secure his signing, Man Utd would step up their pursuit of Palmer, who is said to be interested in returning to Manchester.

Romano on Fernandez

Despite Chelsea and Enzo Fernandez making "peace" after the Argentine's two-game suspension, there are still issues that need to be resolved, says Fabrizio Romano.

"Enzo is out for Chelsea right now, but he will be back next week," Romano said. "Liam Rosenior said that they still have points to clarify with Enzo Fernandez. He apologised to the squad, to the manager, and to the club, so everything has been clarified regarding that interview.

"But the contract situation remains important. Chelsea and Enzo are still in contact, and they still need to clarify the future because they have been negotiating a new contract for some time. There is no agreement on the numbers yet, and that is why there have been moments of tension between Chelsea and Enzo’s camp.

"So if they do not agree on a new deal from now until the end of the season, then we will have to see what happens in the summer. But the key point remains the same: Enzo’s present will continue next week when he returns to the squad, and the future is still open."

Chelsea scouting mission

Chelsea scouts were in attendance to watch FC Porto take on Nottingham Forest in the Europa League on Thursday, A Bola and O Jogo report.

Porto were unfortunate not to come away from the game with more than a 1-1 draw, and Chelsea were likely watching several of the Portuguese giants' players.

Gabri Veiga and William Gomes, in particular, impressed against the Premier League side. Gomes is not an unfamiliar name, as he was being linked with the Blues during his time at Sao Paulo. Victor Froholdt is another player Chelsea were likely watching.

Maresca chased by Napoli

Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is Napoli's preferred option to replace fellow ex-Blues manager Antonio Conte, as per Tuttomercatoweb.

Conte is flirting with the vacant Italian national team job, which has forced Napoli to put contingency plans in place for the eventuality that their successful head coach departs.

Maresca is the favourite for the job in the eyes of club bosses, but they are aware that he is also the heir apparent to Pep Guardiola at Man City and are eyeing alternatives.
