Lamine Camara is being ‘quietly urged’ to join Chelsea by the club’s former star striker Nicolas Jackson after the Monaco midfielder saw his move to Stamford Bridge collapse in the summer.

Chelsea had agreed a deal to sign Camara as a replacement for Enzo Fernandez late on transfer deadline day but Monaco backed out the move at the last minute, much to the Blues’ fury.

Although Camara was disappointed by the situation, the 22-year-old has maintained his professionalism by being a key figure for Monaco this season and there is a belief that Chelsea, as well as other teams like Liverpool, will revive their interest for him in 2027.

Despite agreeing to join Chelsea, Camara is in no rush to force a move and The Sun report that Jackson has encouraged the Senegalese star to continue working hard to secure his dream transfer to the Premier League.

It is claimed that Jackson, who left Chelsea for Aston Villa in the summer, has played a ‘key role’ in helping Camara overcome the disappointment of his failed move by pushing his close friend and international teammate to maintain his high standards.

Chelsea are expected to push for a midfielder signing in January, although it remains to be seen whether they go back in for Camara, having lashed out at Monaco for their conduct during the deal, with the player also keeping his options open.

Camara wanted by Premier League sides as Chelsea pursue midfielder

Camara has played every minute for Monaco in Ligue 1 this season, with the French side backing out of the deal to sell him to Chelsea in the hopes that they could raise funds through the sale of a less important player instead.

Chelsea had agreed a €55 million deal for Camara after the Senegal international impressed at the 2026 World Cup, having provided three goals and four assists in the league for Monaco last season.

Liverpool are also thought to be interested in Camara and have reportedly told the player’s representatives that they will look to sign him next summer if he is available.

However, Chelsea will likely prefer to sign a player like Alex Scott instead, with Bournemouth reportedly now open to cashing in on the England international for the right amount.
