OFFICIAL: Celtic complete Junior Adamu signing
Celtic have officially completed the signing of SC Freiburg striker Junior Adamu.
The Austria international has completed a six-month loan to Parkhead after struggling to perform in the Bundesliga. Adamu was a sizeable €6 million investment in 2023, but he has found goals hard to come by.
The 24-year-old only netted seven goals in 67 appearances for the Breisgau outfit. A mobile striker, there are promising aspects to Adamu's game, but he is unreliable in front of the net.
Adamu made just nine Bundesliga appearances for Freiburg this term, scoring once. All told, he has yet to crack the 1000-minute mark for the campaign.
Celtic will now offer him the chance to kickstart his season and revive his career, similar to Tomas Cvancara. The Borussia Monchengladbach loanee has enjoyed an encouraging start to life in Glasgow after failing to live up to the hype in Germany.
Celtic sign Adamu
Celtic's deal to sign Adamu is an initial loan, but as with Cvancara, there is an undisclosed option to make his stay permanent. “We are really pleased to welcome Junior to Celtic," Martin O'Neill said.
"He has experience of high-level football, firstly with RB Salzburg and. of course, in the German Bundesliga for the past few seasons. He has also been involved in European competition, so we are bringing in a talented, experienced, international forward to really enhance our attacking options."

Adamu said: “I’m very excited to be here and I can’t wait to get started. I want to give my best for this club and try win the title, also the cup, and to score a lot of goals and help the team, and I also want to improve as a player.
“I’ve spoken with the manager and he’s given me good motivation, and I trust him, he’s given me that trust, he’s told me how the system is and I feel the connection is really strong.
“I’m dangerous in the box and hungry for goals. That’s what the manager sees in me and I want to show that on the pitch. I can’t wait to be in the stadium, I’ve seen a lot of videos and it looks amazing, and I can’t wait to get started.”
