Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has once again confirmed that Nicolas Jackson’s loan deal is unlikely to be made permanent next summer.

The Senegal international moved to Vincent Kompany’s side on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea on 1 September and he has scored five goals and provided one assist in 18 appearances since his transfer to the Allianz Arena.

The 24-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by the Chelsea hierarchy following the summer arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, and he eventually opted to join Bayern after interest from the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

However, Jackson has unsurprisingly been unable to displace Harry Kane as Kompany’s preferred centre forward in Bavaria and he has only started six matches across all competitions so far this season.

The aforementioned Eberl has already confirmed that Bayern's €65 million obligation-to-buy clause will not be triggered as Jackson won’t start 40 games this campaign and he has now hinted that a permanent deal is unlikely to take place.

When asked to provide an update on the Senegal star by German outlet BILD, Eberl admitted (via Fabrizio Romano): “Signing him on a permanent or not? There’s no tendency yet.”

Nicolas Jackson transfer update

Although Bayern have the opportunity to reverse their opinion on a permanent deal for Jackson, the early indications firmly suggest that he will not return to the Allianz Arena next season.

He will also not be reintegrated into the Chelsea first-team, with the club having already agreed deals for both Emmanuel Emegha (Strasbourg) and Dastan Satpaev (Kairat Almaty) to arrive next summer.

As a result, Jackson will likely be placed in the ‘Bomb Squad’ when he returns to Stamford Bridge in 2026, before being offloaded if Chelsea receive an offer they deem to be suitable.
