Kepa Arrizabalaga only joined Arsenal in the summer, but the Gunners are already scouting Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Diant Ramaj as a potential replacement, according to a report.

David Raya has become one of the best goalkeepers in the world at Arsenal, which means that there is not much game time to go around for the other shot-stoppers at the club.

Following the departure of Aaron Ramsdale in 2024, Arsenal initially attempted to sign Joan Garcia, but they could not agree a deal, prompting an emergency loan move for then-Bournemouth keeper Neto.

In the summer, with Garcia having joined Barcelona, Arsenal brought in out-of-favour Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga on a permanent deal. Predictably, the Spaniard has barely played, only appearing in the North London club's Carabao Cup matches.

Given that he is still the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of football - and that he is coming off a good loan spell at Bournemouth - he won't be happy about this. Indeed, club legend Lee Dixon recently said that his decision to join Arsenal "didn't make sense whatsoever."

Arsenal to replace Kepa

It, therefore, shouldn't come as a surprise that the Gunners remain attentive to the goalkeeper market. Kepa is surely unlikely to see out his contract, which runs until 2028.

A potential replacement could be found in the Bundesliga. According to German outlet Sport.de, Arsenal have been scouting Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Diant Ramaj in recent weeks.

The Bundesliga giants were anticipating serious summer interest in Gregor Kobel, so they signed Ramaj, who had impressed at Ajax, in January and loaned him to Copenhagen for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.

Surprisingly, Kobel ended up staying, making for an awkward situation in the summer. Ramaj had joined expressly to become Dortmund's new No.1, so a solution had to be found. He was ultimately loaned to his former side Heidenheim, where he has supplanted club legend Kevin Muller.

Although Heidenheim have massively struggled this season, the 24-year-old has been solid. With speculation around Kobel's future relatively muted so far, Ramaj is being linked with a potential exit from Dortmund in the summer.

However, if he were to join Arsenal, he would once again have to contend with the fact that he would only be a backup, so it is doubtful if he would be willing to make the move to North London.
