Vinicius Jr receives Real Madrid ultimatum
Real Madrid have reportedly informed Vinicius Junior that he must accept their contract extension proposal or he will be sold next summer.
The Brazil international has 18 months remaining on his current deal at the Bernabeu and he has been heavily linked with an exit next year amid significant interest from multiple clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
As exclusively revealed by The Transfers Podcast back in March, Vinicius has requested to become the highest-paid player in the Real Madrid squad and he is yet to lower his demands, despite Los Blancos’ reluctance to accept these terms.
As a result, a departure appears to be on the cards and the 25-year-old’s fractured relationship with head coach Xabi Alonso has added further fuel to rumours that he will leave the Bernabeu in 2026.
Los Blancos have now responded by issuing an ultimatum to Vinicius, as per Spanish publication Fichajes. The Brazilian must either accept their latest contract extension offer, or he will be sold on a permanent deal when the 2026 summer transfer window opens.
Who will Vinicius Jr join?
A move to Saudi Arabia has been widely tipped as Vinicius Jr’s likely next step, although several clubs in Europe have also been linked with a swoop for the Brazilian.
Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been touted as potential Premier League destinations for the winger, while Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have also reportedly engaged in initial talks over a possible deal.
If Vinicius does leave Real Madrid next year, the Spanish side are expected to target an ambitious move for Man City striker Erling Haaland as his replacement.
