Man Utd considering 'Harry Maguire transfer fee' in January for MAN MOUNTAIN
Manchester United are interested in signing Everton giant Jarrad Branthwaite in January but must pay a Harry Maguire-like fee for the defender.
That is according to CaughtOffside, who report that Man Utd and Tottenham are both pursuing the Everton centre back.
United are long-term admirers of Brantwaite and see him as a future pillar of the United backline.
However, Everton are not interested in selling and it would take a Harry Maguire-like transfer fee for them to sell.
Indeed, Everton value Branwaite at around €80 million.
Man Utd interest in Branthwaite
United tried to sign Branthwaite in the summer of 2024 but could not agree a deal with Everton, who rejected a bid of around €55m.
Branthwaite has emerged as one of the most promising young defenders in English football over the past year or two.
The 23-year-old 6ft 5in giant joined Everton from Carlisle in 2020 and has enjoyed a meteoric rise since then.
He spent the 2022-23 season on loan at PSV and impressed massively as they won the KNVB Cup.
Branthwaite returned to Everton for the 2023-24 season and became a key player as the club avoided relegation despite a points penalty.
He made 41 appearances and was named Everton Young Player of the Season.
Last season, Branthwaite made 32 appearances in all competitions.
This term, he has been ruled out by injury, while he has been capped once by England.
