Man Utd in concrete talks to sign 'next Alexander Isak'
Manchester United are reportedly in “concrete negotiations” to sign 16-year-old AIK striker Kevin Filling.
The Red Devils have pivoted their transfer strategy to chase the best youngsters in world football since the arrival of INEOS as minority owners and Filling has now emerged as their latest wonderkid target.
That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who posted on X: “Manchester United are in concrete negotiations over a transfer for Kevin Filling.
“The 16 y/o talented striker could leave AIK as early as this winter. Price valuation around €3m. Some Bundesliga clubs also consider him interesting.”
Filling has scored two goals in seven first-team appearances for AIK so far this season, and his development in Sweden has caught the attention of Ruben Amorim’s side, who are now locked in advanced talks over a possible deal.
The 16-year-old’s current contract with AIK isn’t due to expire until 2028, but Man Utd are eager to finalise an agreement for his signature before they face significant competition.
Fellow young strikers Chido Obi and Enzo Kana-Biyik have both joined Man Utd since the arrival of INEOS, but the Red Devils remain determined to bolster their attacking roster and Filling has been earmarked as a key target amid his impressive recent form in Sweden.
The teenager would become AIK’s eighth-most expensive sale in history if he joins Man Utd for €3 million, with that list currently topped by Liverpool superstar Alexander Isak, who moved from the Swedish club to Borussia Dortmund for €8.6m in January 2017.
Man Utd to sign a new striker?
In addition to Filling, Man Utd have also been linked with a number of alternative strikers amid rumours that Joshua Zirkzee could leave the club in January due his lack of game time since the arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
Real Madrid wonderkid Endrick and Crystal Palace star Jean-Philippe Mateta have both been touted as possible targets for the Red Devils, although it has been reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has blocked a prospective move for Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski due to his age.
