Liverpool to SACK Slot? Fabrizio Romano reveals state of play
Fabrizio Romano says that Arne Slot still has the backing of Liverpool chiefs but results must improve in November and December.
Romano reports on his YouTube channel that Slot is not at any immediate risk of the sack.
There have been reports elsewhere that Liverpool chiefs could dismiss Slot after a dreadful run of form that has seen them lose four Premier League matches in a row.
Will Slot be sacked?
But Romano insists that Liverpool bosses still have full trust in Slot and believe he can turn things around.
Chiefs understand that having made so many new signings in the summer that things can take time to gel.
A number of injuries have also complicated the first months of the campaign.
Romano adds, though, that results cannot continue as they are otherwise Slot's position will inevitable come under scrutiny.
If Liverpool are to continue picking up negative results into November and Decemeber, then it is another debate altogether.
The Reds’ 3-2 defeat to Brentford on Saturday evening was their fourth consecutive loss in the Premier League and they are now down in sixth place in the English top flight table, seven points behind league leaders Arsenal.
Slot is under pressure to fix the Reds’ current slump following a record-breaking summer transfer window in which they spent a whopping €482.9 million on Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni.
The Reds spent just €42 million during Slot’s first transfer window at the club and they were expected to endure a difficult 2024-25 campaign following the departure of Jurgen Klopp, however they won just their second ever Premier League title.
Slot enjoyed a fantastic debut season at Anfield as Liverpool claimed the English top flight trophy with 84 points, but recent results are concerning and, as Romano hints, the club could be tempted to make a managerial change if things fail to improve in November and December.
