Cristiano Ronaldo’s legendary professionalism has been highlighted again by a story of how he wouldn’t even drink a bottle of mineral water without a doctor investigating its ingredients.

Ronaldo is still going strong at the age of 40 and a big reason for that is how he has trained and looked after his body both on and off the pitch.

The Portugal star - who is set to play in a record sixth World Cup next summer - is famous for his strict diet and nutritional discipline.

And current Inter Milan chief Beppe Marotta has recalled an incredible story from his time together with Ronaldo at Juventus.

Marotta reveals that Ronaldo was so meticulous that he once wouldn’t even drink a bottle of mineral water without having the ingredients thoroughly checked by the club’s doctors.

What did Marotta say?

“He’s different from all the others, there’s nothing more to say,” Marotta said at a book launch.

“When we went away on a training camp, there was a bottle of mineral water on the table.

“He took it and analysed all the ingredients. Then he consulted with the doctors and asked them why things were the way they were.

“As long as he’s still playing, it’s because he uses his intelligence to get the most out of everything.”
