Fabrizio Romano Transfer News: Rodrygo MESSAGE, Guehi decision CONFIRMED, next Man Utd SIGNING
Football transfer news insider Fabrizio Romano has brought the latest from many big stories, including Rodrygo’s Real Madrid future, Marc Guehi’s big decision and the next player who is heading to Man Utd.
Rodrygo sends clear signal to Real Madrid
Rodrygo was linked with a move away from Real Madrid in the summer, but the Brazil international has made it clear that he wants to remain with the Spanish giants.
Romano explained on his YouTube channel: “Today we have a very important message coming from Rodrygo, one of the best wingers in the world, who was surrounded by many rumours during the summer transfer window. We spent June and July hearing stories about Rodrygo: some said Liverpool were in talks, some said Arsenal were in talks.
“The reality is that Arsenal were informed on the player’s situation but never started concrete negotiations. Liverpool never opened any kind of talks. The only club that really tried for Rodrygo was Manchester City, but even then, it never became a negotiation with Real Madrid. City were focused on Savinho, and Rodrygo was only seen as an option if Savinho joined Tottenham, which never happened. Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of Rodrygo, but it never became an official negotiation or bid.
“In the last 24 hours, Rodrygo gave an important interview to Diario AS with journalist Tomás Roncero.
“On his future, Rodrygo said something very strong: ‘As long as Real Madrid want me, I will stay here.’ He loves the club, he told Xabi Alonso that he’s ready to play anywhere - left, right, it doesn’t matter - he just wants to help the team. This message, both publicly and privately, is very important. He’s showing Real Madrid that he wants to stay, to fight for his place, and to be part of their long-term project.”
Guehi has made his mind up
Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi has made a big decision about his future, and Romano says the England defender will not change his mind.
“He’s been very clear and very professional about his situation. Even after what happened on deadline day - when his move to Liverpool collapsed after he’d completed his medical and was waiting to sign - Guehi stayed calm, respectful, and fully committed to Palace,” he says.
“He’s been a real leader this season, a proper captain, and a key part of why Palace have started so well. But at the end of the season, Guehi will leave on a free transfer. That decision is not going to change. It’s clear, and that’s why many clubs are already circling.
“Liverpool are one of them — as I told you at the end of the transfer window, they will be there for Guehi. But it’s not just Liverpool. There’s interest from Bayern Munich, from Barcelona, from Real Madrid, from several top English clubs, and also from Italy. It’s going to be a big battle, not only about the sporting project but also financially, with important offers and signing fees on the table.
“It’s still too early to say which club will win this race, but I expect more than five or six top clubs to be seriously involved. It’s going to be a real fight for one of the best defenders in the Premier League.”
Upamecano puts Bayern future in doubt
Bayern were once close to tying down the future of Dayot Upamecano, but now the France international centre-back could be on the move after the Allianz Arena club dallied.
"Several clubs across Europe, from France, Spain, and England, are contacting Upamecano’s camp to understand his situation. They’re ready to offer not just an important salary but also significant signing bonuses,” Romano said.
“Bayern, for their part, want to keep him. Vincent Kompany is very happy with the player, but they still need to agree on the financial terms."
"Talks will continue in the coming weeks. Bayern will meet again with Upamecano’s agents to try and make formal progress. They’re going to push to extend the contract, but with more clubs now involved, it’s a story to follow closely."
Man Utd snapping up another youth star
Manchester United’s long-term project continues at a pace, with the Old Trafford club ready to make another significant signing.
“After completing the signing of Juan Orozco - the Colombian midfielder born in 2008 who will join in 2026 from Fortaleza - they’ve also had 17-year-old Senegalese talent Mouhamed Dabo on trial. United were very happy with his performance and are now working on the formal steps to see if the deal can be completed,” Romano reveals.
“This shows the strategy at United: yes, they’re targeting big names for the first team, but they’re also investing in young talent for the present and the future. It’s something we’ve seen over the past year, they want to bring through young players who can develop into first-team options. Orozco is done, and Dabo could be the next one if all the formalities go through.”
