Ordonez opportunity

Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez will be a "transfer opportunity" this summer, CaughtOffside claims.

The Ecuador international will be available for around €45 million, with Brugge receptive to offers. Ordonez wanted to leave the club already last summer, but a transfer to Marseille fell through late in the window.

Chelsea, who have long been linked with Ordonez, could be alerted to his availability. Reports previously claimed that Moises Caicedo had recommended the centre-back to the Blues.

However, at present, it is believed that Liverpool and Tottenham are more likely destinations. The Reds were heavily linked with a move for Ordonez in January, but nothing ultimately came of it despite sensational claims that it was a done deal.

Tottenham's interest in Ordonez stems from the lack of progress made in talks with Brighton over a fee for Jan Paul van Hecke.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs remain locked in discussions with the Seagulls. Roberto de Zerbi and company are "pushing," but there is still no agreement, with Brighton playing hardball over the Dutch international.

It is a different story on personal terms, which have long since been agreed, as per Romano. Van Hecke is very keen to link up with his former Brighton boss De Zerbi again.

Chelsea have also been linked with Van Hecke, but it seems that a move could only become a concrete possibility should his transfer to Tottenham fall through.

Cucurella makes Alonso admission

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has once again addressed his future amid reports that he is keen to leave the club.

The Spain international has supposedly decided to pursue a transfer away after Chelsea failed to qualify for Europe, and he is believed to be keen to return to LaLiga this summer. Atletico Madrid are expected to hold formal talks over a deal with Chelsea shortly.

However, Cucurella recently insisted that he was "very happy" at Chelsea and that he would not discuss transfer rumours during the World Cup. He has now added that he is interested in the project of incoming manager Xabi Alonso.

"Yes, I've spoken with him, and he inspired a lot of confidence in me," Cucurella told MARCA about Alonso. "I've also spoken with [Alejandro] Grimaldo and Borja [Iglesias], who have worked with him, and they spoke very highly of him. The project seems very interesting."

Despite his reported desire to move, Cucurella will not push for a transfer away from Chelsea, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. "He is not going to create problems for Chelsea, and he is not going to force a move," Romano explained.
