Chelsea have reached a full agreement to sell Jimmy-Jay Morgan to West Bromwich Albion, as confirmed by football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

The England U20 striker joined Chelsea from Southampton for €3.4 million in 2023 and he is set to leave the Stamford Bridge outfit without making a first-team appearance during his three years at the club.

Morgan scored 21 goals in 46 matches for Chelsea’s U21 side, but he was unable to force his way into the Blues’ senior set-up and West Brom have now finalised a deal to bring him to the Hawthorns.

This has been confirmed by Romano, who posted on X: “Jimmy Jay-Morgan from Chelsea to West Brom, here we go! Deal agreed today for £4m (€4.6m) total package. CFC also included a sell-on clause as part of the deal.”

The 20-year-old spent the second-half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Gillingham and although he scored just twice in 16 appearances for the club, his performances attracted interest from League One side Peterborough, who signed him on a season-long loan deal in September.

Morgan repaid that faith by netting 14 goals in 39 games across all competitions last campaign and his form has earned him a move to West Brom, who survived relegation from the Championship in 2025-26 following a stellar end to the season under interim boss James Morrison.

Morrison has now been appointed on a permanent basis, and Morgan is set to become his second signing of the summer, after the arrival of Falkirk striker Barney Stewart.

What transfers have Chelsea completed so far this summer?

Morgan will become the third player to leave Chelsea on a permanent deal this summer when his move to West Brom becomes official, following Marc Cucurella’s €55m transfer to Real Madrid and Frankie Runham’s switch to Ipswich Town.

In addition, academy stars Richard Olise, Jimi Tauriainen, Sam Rak-Sakyi and Brodi Hughes have all departed upon the expiration of their contracts.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have already completed four transfers so far this summer, with Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda, Strasbourg striker Emmanuel Emegha, Kairat Almaty forward Dastan Satpaev and Corinthians defender Denner all arriving at the club before Xabi Alonso begins his duties as their new head coach on 1 July.
