Liverpool hijack Newcastle move for Victor Munoz

Romano opened with another surprise transfer, confirming that Liverpool have beaten Newcastle to the signing of Victor Munoz.

“Out of nowhere again. Completely unexpected. Liverpool have their first signing of the summer and it's Victor Munoz from Osasuna,” Romano explained on his YouTube channel.

“The deal is done, agreed, here we go.

“Newcastle had been working on the deal for some time. They were negotiating around the €40m release clause and had also been speaking to the player for five or six days.

“But then, in the last 24 hours, Liverpool appeared with zero links, zero reports and completed the deal. Victor Munoz, who is with Spain at the World Cup, is going to join Liverpool.”

Romano revealed that Liverpool moved quickly to wrap up the transfer.

“Liverpool activated the €40m release clause.

“Victor Munoz has already completed the first part of his medical in the United States with Liverpool staff. Everything is agreed and done for the boy to become a new Liverpool player.

“Andoni Iraola knows him very well because he follows Spanish football and Victor Munoz is one of the most interesting talents in La Liga.”

The move will also benefit Real Madrid, with the Bernabeu side having had a grip on the player’s future via a series of clauses.

“Real Madrid had a 50 per cent sell-on clause and decided not to activate their buy-back option. So Real Madrid will receive €20m from this deal,” Romano said.

“It's fresh money for them and an important amount.”

Liverpool still want Diomande and Barcola

Although the Reds have signed Munoz, both Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola remain possible signings.

“Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards are doing an excellent job and Liverpool are still working behind the scenes to add at least one more winger,” he explained.

“Victor Munoz is a player with huge potential and financially it was an easy opportunity because his salary at Osasuna was very low. But Liverpool are not done.

“Diomande from RB Leipzig is for sure on Liverpool's list. He is also appreciated by Paris Saint-Germain.

“At the World Cup things can change quickly because if a player performs well, more clubs can enter the race. He Diomande remains one of the options.

“Bradley Barcola remains appreciated by Liverpool. He is also admired by Arsenal. But Arsenal's priority remains Morgan Rogers. Arsenal want to go all in for Morgan Rogers.

“Barcola remains on the shortlist, but nothing is imminent.”

Enzo Fernandez is a genuine Real Madrid target

Romano says that Real Madrid’s interest in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez could well prompt a serious move.

“Enzo Fernandez is for sure on the list at Real Madrid,” Romano said.

“He is not the only name, there are two or three midfielders under consideration, but Enzo is definitely one of them.

“Real Madrid have genuine interest and the player would be open to joining Real Madrid.

“So we have to keep this story in mind for the summer.”

However, Romano stressed that negotiations have not started.

“As of today, Real Madrid and Chelsea are not discussing Enzo Fernandez,” he said.

“I say 'yet' because the relationship between the clubs is excellent after the Marc Cucurella deal. They could speak in the future.

“Chelsea already have their price in mind if a club wants to attack this opportunity.

“But at the moment there is no club-to-club negotiation, no bid and no formal process.

“Enzo Fernandez is one of the players mentioned by Jose Mourinho in meetings with Real Madrid.

“Mateus Fernandes from West Ham has also been discussed. But Mateus Fernandes is another player who is on Manchester United's shortlist.

“Mourinho is indicating names and then the Real Madrid board are working on the opportunities and trying to move quickly.

“We have seen how fast they have been over the last two or three weeks and they want to continue in the same direction.”

Camavinga wants Real Madrid stay

Although Enzo continues to be linked with a move to the Bernabeu, Eduardo Camavinga is determined to remain at the club amid links to Inter Milan.

“There were reports in Italy about Inter and Camavinga after meetings between Beppe Marotta and Florentino Perez,” Romano said. “But I’m not aware of anything really concrete.

“The desire of Eduardo Camavinga is to stay at Real Madrid and fight for his place.

“This has probably been his most difficult season since joining the club. Not only the Bayern Munich game, also some difficult moments in La Liga.

“Camavinga knows this is not the real version of himself and he wants to prove himself again at the highest level.

“Real Madrid could be open to a departure in case of a good proposal, but the message from those close to the player is very clear. He wants to stay and fight.”

Chelsea discuss Alvaro Carreras amid Cambiaso links

Chelsea, meanwhile, are on the lookout for a replacement for Marc Cucurella at left-back and are studying the possibility of signing Alvaro Carreras.

Romano explained: “Chelsea are considering bringing in a player who can cover several positions.

“Many of you asked me about Alvaro Carreras. He is a player Chelsea have discussed with Xabi Alonso in recent days and was one of the names mentioned in meetings.

“But at the moment it is still not a real negotiation. No club-to-club talks and nothing concrete yet.

“There are also many reports from Italy about Andrea Cambiaso.

“Today they are reporting a swap deal involving Nicolas Jackson and Cambiaso. But I’m told there is nothing concrete in this.”

Xabi Alonso fully involved in Chelsea decisions

Romano finished by dismissing suggestions that Xabi Alonso had been unaware of the Cucurella transfer.

“Xabi Alonso is informed about everything,” he said. “He is coordinated with Chelsea on exits, incomings, strategy and contracts. Since Chelsea appointed him in May, the club always wanted to be coordinated with him on absolutely everything.

“Xabi Alonso is 100 per cent involved and will continue to be involved in every decision Chelsea make this summer.”
