Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has linked up with Jorge Mendes' agency Gestifute after leaving Wasserman.

According to Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol, the Italian has become one of the most high-profile coaches to be represented by superagent Mendes, who is overseeing the careers of megastars like Lamine Yamal, Vitinha and Joao Neves. Up until 2022, Mendes also represented Cristiano Ronaldo.

On the coaching front, Mendes' influence isn't quite as widespread. Maresca is only the 13th manager to be currently associated with Gestifute. Gennaro Gattuso, Unai Emery, Jose Mourinho, Marco Silva, Vitor Pereira and Nuno Espirito Santo are also represented by Mendes.

The report notes that former Chelsea player Filipe Luis, currently in charge of Brazilian giants Flamengo, has tasked Mendes with negotiating a new contract in Rio de Janeiro. Like Maresca, he only recently joined Gestifute.

The timing of Maresca's switch is perhaps a tad unfortunate as it comes amid speculation over his Chelsea future. There was some talk of the 45-year-old being under a bit of pressure ahead of the Blues' victory over Liverpool before the international break.

Juventus admire Maresca

While Maresca is not believed to be at risk of the sack, he is nevertheless in the news again, as it was recently confirmed by reliable journalist Matteo Moretto that he is a dream target for Juventus.

A former player of the club, the Bianconeri have held him in high regard for some time. Even before Moretto's recent reporting, the Chelsea boss had tentatively been associated with the Old Lady.

Juventus are not actively trying to lure him away from Stamford Bridge, but should the opportunity of a future collaboration arise, they would like to take advantage of it. The appointment of Mendes as Maresca's agent could help in that endeavour, too.

The Portuguese has good ties with the Serie A club. He negotiated Ronaldo's blockbuster move to Juventus in 2018 and currently has ties to Francisco Conceicao and Kenan Yildiz. The latter is set for a bumper new deal after Chelsea had a summer bid rejected.
