Agent Mbeumo! Man Utd star helps Amorim complete €115m transfer
Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly attempting to convince Cameroon international team-mate Carlos Baleba to join Manchester United next year.
Mbeumo, 26, moved to Old Trafford from Brentford in July and he is now aiming to persuade close friend Baleba to follow in his footsteps in 2026.
Baleba was heavily linked with a move to Man Utd during the summer transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise due to Brighton & Hove Albion’s asking price of over €115 million (£100m).
However, the Red Devils have been tipped to rekindle their interest in the 21-year-old next summer, and Mbeumo is eager to help the transfer come to fruition.
That is according to a bombshell report from The Sun, who claim that “Mbeumo has been sharing the delights of joining a mammoth club like United and is like a big brother to 21-year-old Baleba.”
The Man Utd winger is reportedly eager for Baleba to secure an Old Trafford transfer in January, however Brighton are unlikely to sanction a mid-season exit and a deal could therefore be forced to wait until the summer.
Mbeumo has scored two goals in eight appearances for Man Utd since his arrival at the club, while it’s understood that Baleba remains a key midfield target for Ruben Amorim, alongside the likes of Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson.
Brighton issue official Carlos Baleba transfer message
Brighton refused to sell Baleba this summer and the club’s chairman Tony Bloom has revealed that a move to Man Utd before Transfer Deadline Day was never advanced.
“I don’t think Baleba was a saga,” Bloom told The Argus this week. “There was interest from Manchester United, and we said that he wasn't available this summer and they went away.
“So we've had many bigger sagas in the past. But, Carlos Baleba, his improvement has been immense. Massively important player to this football club, and just delighted that he's with us for this season.”
Bloom added: “We know that occasionally some of our best players will be sold. But, when that happens, we don't want too many at any one time.
“And then we always try and make sure that the players coming in, maybe players we've brought in previous seasons, can help with that situation.
“But that's true of almost every club. The best players, unless you're potentially Man City, Liverpool, [Real] Madrid, PSG, almost every club's best players do get sold. And it's up to us to make sure that we are prepared as much as we can.
“We can't always get the timing right, but we are prepared as much as we can be to make sure that, at the start of every season, we have a really, really competitive squad.”
