The Argentina international has agreed personal terms with Man Utd and he has officially informed Aston Villa of his desire to complete a blockbuster move to Old Trafford before the end of Transfer Deadline Day.

Martinez was omitted from Villa’s squad for their 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday evening, amid immense speculation over his future, although Unai Emery was eager to avoid discussing rumours of a late exit during the final hours of the transfer window.

However, Man Utd are pushing to finalise a deal with Martinez and they are now locked in negotiations with Aston Villa over a deal for the 32-year-old, as per multiple sources.

The Red Devils remain interested in Senne Lammens, but Martinez appears to be their priority target. In fact, the Royal Antwerp shot-stopper could be set to complete a move to Aston Villa as Martinez’s replacement if Man Utd opt to sign the Argentina star.

Jadon Sancho to join Aston Villa?

The Birmingham Mail and Fabrizio Romano have also confirmed that Man Utd and Aston Villa are also discussing a possible Deadline Day deal for the aforementioned Sancho.

The ex-England international has been frozen out by Amorim following his return from a loan spell at Chelsea last season and he is expected to leave Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.

However, he has rejected the chance to join AS Roma, and Villa have now emerged as strong suitors to acquire his signature as they look to bolster their attacking ranks after failing to score a single goal in their opening three Premier League fixtures of the new campaign.
