Fabrizio Romano has given an uncharacteristically strong response to rumours that have emerged regarding Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford in recent hours.

Rashford left United on loan this summer to join Barcelona. The England attacker hasn’t exactly made a quick start with his new club, playing three games but failing to contribute a goal or an assist. Indeed, on his only start against Levante, he was hauled off at half-time with the Blaugrana trailing 2-0.

This has sparked claims in the Catalan press that if the 27-year-old fails to improve his level in short order, he could have his loan terminated.

Naturally, this is seen as a nightmare scenario for Rashford, who left the Red Devils following a fallout with head coach Ruben Amorim. He struggled to find a move in the summer due to his sizeable wages and actually had to take a cut to his salary in order to join Barca.

Romano issues response to Rashford claim

Romano has commented on these claims, describing them as “bullsh*t”.

Taking to YouTube, transfer insider Romano said: “I don’t know where this story is coming from. There’s zero into it. Barcelona are very happy with Rashford and the deal they did. They’re happy with the attitude of Rashford. Barca are waiting for him to erupt. But the club and the player are completely aligned.

“The reports of Barcelona terminating Rashford’s deal early is complete bulls**t. There’s nothing in it.”

Next up for Barcelona is a home encounter against Valencia that will be played at Estadi Cruyff as the club’s return to the renovated Camp Nou was again delayed on Monday. It will be the Blaugrana’s first home game of the season.

Rashford, though, is not without opportunities to ignite his career at Barcelona. Following the clash with Valencia, they travel to Newcastle United on 18 September for a Champions League fixture in which his stock might finally start to grow again.
