Barcelona will reportedly consider terminating Marcus Rashford’s loan deal if the England international fails to impress over the next few months.

The 27-year-old moved to Camp Nou on a season-long loan deal in July, after being cast aside by Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim, but he is yet to nail down a starting berth.

Barcelona were eager to sign Nico Williams and Luis Diaz before eventually bringing Rashford to the club, with the former agreeing to remain at Athletic Club and the latter choosing to join Bayern Munich instead.

Furthermore, the Blaugrana hierarchy believe that Rashford has struggled to adapt to life in La Liga and they are demanding that he improves quickly.

In fact, Spanish publication El Nacional even speculatively claim that Barcelona will consider breaking their loan agreement early if Rashford “continues to leave such a poor impression over the next few months.”

If Barcelona decide to terminate Rashford’s deal, they will be forced to pay a €5 million penalty fee to Man Utd.

Rashford has featured in all three of Barcelona’s La Liga fixtures so far this season, although he was hooked at half-time in his only start, which came against Levante on 23 August.

He is yet to register a goal contribution for his new club, and Hansi Flick has favoured a front three of Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal in Robert Lewandowski’s absence.

El Nacional claim that Rashford has looked “completely lost” since arriving at Barcelona and they believe that an early termination could be on the cards unless he is able to rediscover his best form quickly.

The England international, who has been recalled into the Three Lions set-up by new head coach Thomas Tuchel, has three years remaining on his current Man Utd contract and he is expected to leave Old Trafford on a permanent deal next summer, regardless of whether Barcelona opt to exercise their option-to-buy clause.
