FootballTransfers understands that Manchester City are currently in contract talks with four key players.

2025 has been a year of significant change at the Etihad. Long-serving director of football Txiki Begiristain left after 13 years and was replaced by Hugo Viana, Pep Guardiola reshuffled his coaching staff and, of course, a host of new players arrived.

After all of this upheaval, Man City are now looking for consistency and continuity. To achieve this, several key players are set to be handed contract extensions after defensive stalwart Ruben Dias penned fresh terms last month.

Sources have informed us that Phil Foden, John Stones, Josko Gvardiol and Rodri are all in line for new deals in Manchester. England star Foden, who has started the season promisingly after a down year, will be given a contract that cements his status as one of the faces of the club following the exit of Kevin de Bruyne.

Though already among the Cityzens' top earners, the 25-year-old will be given a further pay increase to show his importance to this new-look Man City.

Rodri, Stones and Gvardiol also set for new deals

In addition to Foden, we understand that tying Rodri down to a new contract is a priority amid constant rumours of interest from Real Madrid. Last year's Ballon d'Or winner has been offered a £300,000-per-week deal until 2029 with an option for 2030.

Stones is also currently in talks with the club. However, due to his age and injury problems, Man City are unwilling to commit to anything more than a one-year extension to his current terms, which expire next summer.

The situation with Gvardiol is less urgent as he only joined the club in 2023. He has become one of the first names on the teamsheet since arriving, so Man City want to reward him with a bumper new contract.

The Etihad outfit are proposing a two-year extension to his current deal, which runs until 2028, and a pay rise to bring him in line with the rest of Guardiola's undisputed starters like Foden, Dias and Tijjani Reijnders.
