Chelsea interest in €60m Tottenham star sparks IMMEDIATE action
Tottenham are poised to hand Micky van de Ven a bumper new deal amid interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid, according to a report.
The Dutchman has shown himself to be a revelation for Spurs when fit. Due to ex-manager Ange Postecoglou's high-octane style, he frequently suffered from hamstring problems, but he hopes that those days are behind him now that Thomas Frank is in charge.
Van de Ven has played the full 90 minutes in all of Tottenham's competitive outings so far this season, keeping two clean sheets. The rapid centre-back has been his usual impressive self.
Since joining the North London club for €40 million in 2023, Van de Ven's Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has risen to €61.1m, making him the second most valuable Dutch centre-back behind Dean Huijsen.
According to TBR Football, Van de Ven's performances for Tottenham have put him on the radar of the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid, who are regularly keeping tabs on his exploits.
Tottenham to open Van de Ven talks
Given the growing interest in the Netherlands international's services, Spurs CEO Vinai Venkatesham is ready to take action and open talks with him over an improved contract.
The idea would be to elevate Van de Ven into the upper echelons of Tottenham's wage bill in a bid to fend off Chelsea, Real Madrid and other suitors who could come calling in 2026.
Venkatesham has been tasked with renewing the contracts of players, and handing Van de Ven fresh terms is likely to be among his top priorities, with the outlet also claiming that he is currently holding talks with Rodrigo Bentancur over an extension.
Spurs recently announced that captain Cristian Romero has committed his long-term future to the club, and they are hoping that his defensive partner Van de Ven will do the same. His current deal runs until 2029.
