OFFICIAL: Chelsea confirm signing of new striker
Chelsea have officially reached a full agreement to sign Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha in 2026.
Widespread reports have indicated that Chelsea were likely to bring the Netherlands forward to Stamford Bridge from their sister club Strasbourg next summer and the transfer has now been confirmed by the Blues.
They have posted an official statement that reads: "Chelsea Football Club has agreed a deal to sign striker Emanuel Emegha from Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, with the Dutchman officially joining in 2026.
"Emegha, 22, scored 14 goals and provided three assists in 27 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, earning him recognition as one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe."
It comes after football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on X: “EXCLUSIVE: Chelsea will sign Emanuel Emegha in 2026, pre agreement done. Here we go!
“Chelsea anticipate Champions League and Premier League clubs keen on Emegha as he wanted to stay at Strasbourg, lead them in Europe… and then join Chelsea on 7 year contract from 2026.”
He will become the 10th player to move between Strasbourg and Chelsea since BlueCo purchased the Ligue 1 club in June 2023.
Emegha was selected as Strasbourg’s new club captain ahead of the 2025-26 season by Liam Rosenior and he has already netted three goals in four appearances so far this campaign.
Chelsea to sign Emanuel Emegha
Emegha will bolster Chelsea’s attacking options once he formally completes his move to Stamford Bridge in 2026.
The Dutchman is likely to compete with Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and potentially Marc Guiu for a starting berth under Enzo Maresca during his debut season at the club, with Nicolas Jackson likely to be sold on a permanent deal following his loan spell at Bayern Munich.
It remains to be seen how much Chelsea have paid to sign Emegha next year, although he currently boasts an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €26.2 million.
