Transfer Rumours: Arsenal target Leny Yoro as controversial Man Utd decision confirmed
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 3 October, including the latest updates on Leny Yoro, Aleksey Batrakov and Ivan Fresneda.
Yoro unsettled
Leny Yoro is growing unsettled at Man Utd and could look to leave the club, CaughtOffside claims.
The France international is "concerned" with his role at Old Trafford, having not yet started a game in the Premier League this season. If Man Utd were to sign a centre-back next year, which is a realistic scenario, the 20-year-old could depart.
PSG, who eyed him during his time at Lille, are the strongest contenders to secure his signature, but it is asserted that Arsenal also hold a surprising interest in the young defender.
Chelsea, Man Utd scout Batrakov
Chelsea and Man Utd are among the clubs keeping tabs on Galatasaray youngster Aleksey Batrakov, Sporx writes.
The highly-rated Russia international joined Galatasaray from Lokomotiv Moscow in the summer. There was interest from the Premier League, but the sanctions regime against Batrakov's home country prevented English clubs from signing him directly from the Russian Premier League.
Instead, they could look to acquire him from Galatasaray in the future, with scouts from Chelsea and Man Utd expected to watch him in action against Barcelona in two weeks.
Signing a Russian, even from Galatasaray, could prove tricky, however, as he would need to be granted the necessary paperwork to live and work in England. Last year, the UK government previously denied Real Sociedad star Arsen Zakharyan entry to the country.
Arsenal reignite Fresneda pursuit
Arsenal have rekindled their interest in Sporting CP right-back Ivan Fresneda, Correio da Manha reports.
The 22-year-old is a long-standing target for the Gunners, and he has now reemerged as a possible option following his first call-up to Spain's senior national team. Fresneda has become a hugely important player for Sporting over the past year.
In addition to Arsenal, he is also being courted by Barcelona. In order to deter interest in the full-back, Sporting have "accelerated" talks over a new contract with him.
Mateta exit confirmed
Jean-Philippe Mateta will definitely leave Crystal Palace in 2027, as per Football Insider.
The French striker has been trying to engineer a move away from Palace for a year, and he was not pleased when the club exercised the one-year extension option in his contract earlier this year. In fact, he tried to start a legal battle over the validity of his contract.
In this context, an extension beyond 2027 is out of the question, and Palace may even look to sell him while they still can in January. Man Utd have been touted as a possible destination for Mateta.
Mitoma latest
Liverpool and Tottenham are attentive to Kaoru Mitoma's contract situation at Brighton, TEAMtalk understands.
The Seagulls have been trying to extend the Japan international's deal since at least the spring, but talks have stalled in recent months and there is a growing feeling that Mitoma will leave on a free transfer next summer.
Like Palace with Mateta, Brighton may have to agree to a January sale to avoid the worst-case scenario of losing their star attacker for nothing. Several Premier League and Champions League clubs are looking to pounce on this "solid market opportunity."
