Arsenal are still yet to reach a total agreement with Sporting CP over a summer deal for Viktor Gyokeres and Manchester United have been tipped to hijack the transfer.

Ruben Amorim has been eager to secure a reunion with Gyokeres since his appointment at Old Trafford last year and Man Utd have earmarked the Sweden international as a top transfer target amid their pursuit of a new centre forward.

However, Gyokeres has set his sights on completing a move to Arsenal and he has even given up €2 million in wages in order to force through a transfer to the Emirates Stadium.

Despite this, Man Utd have submitted a last-minute proposal to Sporting CP, according to bombshell reports from Portuguese outlets A Bola and Sic Noticias.

The Red Devils have reportedly lodged an offer worth between €70-80m and an agreement with Sporting is “very close.” However, Gyokeres is still determined to join Arsenal and he has no intention of joining Man Utd as things stand.

This has been confirmed by football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X: “Viktor Gyokeres maintains his clear position despite links with Man United and more clubs: he wants Arsenal.

“Total priority to AFC project since June and no change of plans with agent Hasan Cetinkaya, on the same page with Gyokeres.”

Viktor Gyokeres expected to join Arsenal

FootballTransfers understands that Gyokeres is still expected to join Arsenal this summer, with the club reaching an agreement to sign him for an initial fee of €63.5m, plus a further €10m in add-ons.

Mikel Arteta’s side are, however, yet to finalise the structure of the add-on payments, which is the reason behind Gyokeres’ delayed move to north London.

Despite this, the Sweden star is set to become a new Arsenal player before the end of the 2025 summer transfer window and Man Utd will be forced to pursue an alternative striker target.
