Man Utd make contact for Flop of the Season - Fabrizio Romano
Manchester United have made an enquiry over the possible signing of Juventus flop Douglas Luiz.
The Brazilian is transfer listed after a disastrous first year in Turin following his big money move from Aston Villa.
Matteo Moretto, speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, reports that three Premier League teams have enquired about Luiz.
Everton and Fulham have shown the most interest, requesting the terms of both the transfer fee and the salary of the player.
Manchester United, who have a long-term interest in Luiz, have also enquired once again about the midfielder - although with less insistence so far as Everton and Fulham.
Douglas Luiz to Premier League?
It has been reported elsewhere that Luiz could be used as a pawn in the current negotiations between Juventus and Man Utd over Jadon Sancho.
Juve are in talks with United to sign Sancho this summer, having nearly brought in the winger last year.
Sancho is reported to be one of the players who has been offered in part-exchange for Sancho, with Dusan Vlahovic another.
Luiz is understood to be keen on returning to the Premier League after a dismal first season at Juve.
He joined the Bianconeri in the summer of 2023 for a fee of around €50 million - with Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea going the other way.
All three players have been flops at their new clubs, with the latter two sent out on loan and Luiz proving to be arguably the Serie A Flop of the Season.
He played just 516 minutes of Serie A football and managed no goals or assists in all competitions.
He also suffered five separate injuries and looked completely unfit and unmotivated for a Juventus team that suffered a miserable campaign.
