Nypan has signed a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, keeping him with Pep Guardiola’s side until 2030, although he is widely expected to spend the 2025-26 campaign out on loan.

The Norway teenager made his Rosenborg debut against Jerv aged 15 years and 322 days old back in November 2022, becoming the club’s youngest ever player in the process, and he racked up 70 senior appearances before completing his move to Man City.

During that time, he scored an impressive 14 goals and provided 11 assists from central midfield.

FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal were in a strong position to sign Nypan earlier this year, however Man City quickly entered the race for his signature and they have now officially confirmed his arrival ahead of the new season.

Sverre Nypan joins Man City

Nypan has become Man City’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window and their 10th new purchase since the start of 2025.

Following a poor run of form at the back end of last year, Man City made significant moves during the January transfer window in a bid to save their season and they spent a whopping €218m on Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Juma Bah.

They have followed that up by completing the signings of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli and Nypan so far this summer. In total, Man City have spent €363.3m on new players since the turn of the year, and they are still expected to be active before Transfer Deadline Day, with a new goalkeeper on the agenda.
