Mikel Arteta’s side are keen to sign a new centre forward this summer, with Gabriel Jesus potentially set to depart, and Kofane has been earmarked as a possible alternative to fellow targets Julian Alvarez and Nicolo Tresoldi.

The 19-year-old has scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 40 games so far this season, and his form since arriving at Leverkusen has caught the attention of scouts across European football.

Arsenal are one of the frontrunners to secure Kofane’s signature ahead of the 2026-27 campaign and German reporter Christian Falk has confirmed the Gunners are expected to lodge a “formal offer” for the Cameroon international this summer.

The north London giants are set to spend big in the transfer market yet again this year and Kofane could become the latest high-profile signing at the Emirates Stadium, with Gyokeres potentially set to lose his place in Arteta’s starting XI if the Leverkusen striker arrives.

FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal also want to sign Newcastle United trio Valentino Livramento, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon this summer, with the likes of Myles Lewis-Skelly, Gabriel Martinelli and Ben White possibly set to depart in order to fund the Gunners’ upcoming business.

Confirmed: Arsenal want to sign Christian Kofane

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Kofane since his eye-catching performance against the Gunners during the Champions League last-16 and his agent has confirmed that Arteta wants to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Speaking to Daily Arsenal, Kofane’s agent, Eric Depolo, admitted: “Arsenal’s interest is genuine. The manager likes him very much. There is contact between me and Arsenal. But their focus right now is to win the league - from there everything will start moving.

“He is a €100 million player. With Kofane, Arsenal will have a top striker for the next 10 years.”

When asked which other clubs are interested in signing the 19-year-old, Depolo said: “Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton, Brentford, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

“I have never had as many calls in my life as now regarding Kofane. Right now, he is the best U21 striker in Europe and the most complete one. He has speed, technique, defends very well and is strong in the air. It is very difficult to find all these attributes in one striker.

“I think it is too early to say [who is leading the race], but due to the fact that the player speaks Spanish, like Mikel Arteta, and that William Saliba is originally from Cameroon, I would say Arsenal are in pole position,” Depolo concluded.
