Chelsea Transfer News Today: Manu Kone unlocks everything as record signing eyed
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Manu Kone, Nicolo Tresoldi and Yasin Ayari.
Chelsea still keen on Kone
Chelsea remain interested in AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone, as per Tuttomercatoweb.
The Blues explored a late-summer transfer and possibly even made a €60 million offer, but at that point, Roma had decided not to sell. The Serie A giants will, however, likely need to cash in on the midfielder next summer. His sale would unlock new signings for the Giallorossi.
Chelsea remain in the picture to sign Kone after they failed to bring in a replacement for Enzo Fernandez, but Liverpool are also in the mix. The Reds have been tracking the Frenchman since his Borussia Monchengladbach days.
Record Tresoldi deal - but only in the summer
Club Brugge have no intention of selling Nicolo Tresoldi in January, TEAMtalk claims.
The 22-year-old is quickly becoming one of Europe's most in-demand strikers, and Belgian outlet HLN reported on Tuesday that Chelsea are among the clubs keeping tabs on his performances.
However, a January transfer is out of the question for Brugge, who fully expect Tresoldi to become their new record sale in the summer. Consequently, the Germany youth international will cost more than the €40m Arsenal paid for Christos Tzolis this year.
Ayari wanted
TEAMtalk also asserts that Chelsea have joined the race to sign Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari.
The Sweden international is out of contract in the summer, and Brighton have yet to exercise their one-year extension, to the surprise of the player's camp. Discussions with Ayari over a new contract have so far proved fruitless.
Naturally, then, the midfielder is attracting widespread interest, with Chelsea now among the clubs running the rule over him. Galatasaray could be strong competition as they have been trying to sign Ayari since the summer.
Garnacho deal "in jeopardy"
Chelsea are "losing patience" with Alejandro Garnacho's situation at Aston Villa, Football Insider writes.
The Argentine joined the Birmingham club on loan with a conditional purchase obligation this summer, but he has barely played so far, making just four appearances. History is repeating itself as Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott was in the same position last season.
Chelsea are worried that this story will end the same way - Elliott returned to Liverpool - which would be a "major financial risk." They fully expected to bank €50m for Garnacho next summer.
Acheampong caution
Chelsea youngster Josh Acheampong is still "cautious" about committing his long-term future to the club, the BBC understands.
The 20-year-old has featured prominently in recent games after being deemed "untouchable" by the club hierarchy in the summer. Acheampong has fielded plenty of interest from around Europe in recent years.
Chelsea have floated the idea of handing Acheampong a new seven-year contract, but there are currently no active discussions. Moreover, the player wants to get a clearer picture of whether he can truly become a regular starter before making a final decision on his future.
Chalobah wanted to become a Chelsea legend
Como defender Trevoh Chalobah has admitted that it was hard to leave Chelsea this summer.
Speaking to The Athletic, the England international said: "I’d been there since I was eight and I wanted to be a legend there, but sometimes the way we plan things is not how things work out. As footballers, you’ve always got to be ready to adapt.
"You could be here one moment, then the next moment you’re somewhere else. But I just thought that it was the best. Chelsea means everything to me. I’m still watching the games, keeping in contact with the players and staff."
