Luis Diaz submits Liverpool transfer request
Liverpool superstar Luis Diaz has reportedly handed in a transfer request as he looks to complete a big-money move this summer.
The Colombia international has been heavily linked with an Anfield departure in recent weeks and he has now informed Arne Slot’s side of his desire to leave the club amid significant interest from both Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
That is according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who has claimed that Diaz will push to leave Liverpool if an “exciting offer” is submitted.
Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has reportedly held fresh talks with Diaz’s representatives in recent days and the Bundesliga champions are eager to finalise a deal with Liverpool after missing out on both Florian Wirtz and Nico Williams.
Liverpool, however, have blocked a sale so far this summer and they are reluctant to offload the 28-year-old unless they receive a suitable bid. Despite this, Bayern are still hoping to reach an agreement with the Anfield outfit, while Barcelona are also monitoring Diaz’s current situation.
Luis Diaz wants to leave Liverpool
Diaz recently broke his silence on rumours linking him with a Liverpool exit during an interview with Colombian influencer Mauricio Gomez.
“We’re there, negotiating. We’ll see what can be achieved, for us and for the club,” the 28-year-old admitted (via The Mirror). “We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision.”
Diaz added: “We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us. But I’m very calm where I am, you know, very happy. Trying to make the best decision now.”
However, the Colombia international has now reportedly issued a transfer request in a bid to leave Anfield after a three-and-a-half year spell at the club.
Diaz has scored 41 goals and provided 23 assists in 148 appearances for Liverpool, since arriving from FC Porto in January 2022, and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €50.4 million.
