Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Amrabat has been left out of Fiorentina's squad for the Europa Conference League qualifier against Rapid Wien tomorrow.

"Amrabat is training on his own, he won’t travel with us for next game," said head coach Vincenzo Italiano.

This suggests that the club do not see Amrabat as part of their plans and are prepared to let him go.

Another boost for United is that the same does not apply to Amrabat's teammate, Nico Gonzalez.

Brentford made an offer for the Argentine midfielder and many thought that if it were accepted, Amrabat would have to stay.

But Italiano has said that Dominguez will stay in Florence, meaning Amrabat will be the one to leave.

"[Dominguez] is a key player for us, these movements are normal but Nico will stay here at Fiorentina," Italiano added.

Man Utd need to sell

With United having spent almost €200 million on the arrivals of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, they need to generate cash before they can sanction a move for the Fiorentina star, but offloading deadwood has not been easy.

In fact, the likes of Eric Bailly, Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson, Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire are all still around.

And, of those who have been sold, only Anthony Elanga's move to Nottingham Forest has flushed double-digit millions into United's coffers.

So, the funds that have been raised so far do not suffice to get Fiorentina to sell Amrabat.
